Join us for the 2024 KCTL Volunteer Doubles Open on May 5th!
Family Day is a wonderful opportunity for families to not only visit their child's site, but to also participate with our players and celebrate what they’ve accomplished. It provides the chance for our players’ parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins to experience KCTL firsthand and have fun with our volunteers and coaches.
Davis Cup is a doubles tournament that marks the first official day of competition among all clubs. Until this point in the season, our players learn tennis fundamentals and strategy to prepare for competition, without actually partaking in scored matchplay. To emulate the real Davis Cup, each club chooses a country to represent and research. Before the matches, we learn about and discuss the geography, history, and cultures of the different countries, which makes Davis Cup a wonderful educational opportunity for participants.
To conclude each season, our players get to show off their skills in a singles tournament, with students from all sites facing off. Participants get a taste of the individual pressure faced by professionals at Grand Slams like Wimbledon and the US Open. The Jamboree provides a rare experience for our players to learn competition, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. It’s an incredible day where parents, players, coaches, and volunteers all come together to celebrate the season with food, music, and tennis!
