On Sunday, May 2nd, the Kings County Tennis League community enjoyed a beautiful day full of tennis at Fort Greene Park tennis courts!
The day kicked off with a KCTL and Fort Greene Tennis Association Student Clinic! 20+ kids enjoyed tennis drills and games building basic ball and racquet skills as led by a team of talented coaches and volunteers.
After the Student Clinic wrapped up, it was tournament time!
The KCTL Doubles Open tennis tournament fundraiser featured 24 players divided into 6 teams with an A Division (4.0/4.5) and B division (3.0/3.5). Each team represented a KCTL Tennis Club and competed in a series of doubles matches for a chance to win the title.
In the end it was Team Lafayette Gardens who brought home the trophy!
Even more impressive was our off-court victory: the Doubles Open raised over $37,000! These funds will provide critical support for KCTL to continue delivering free tennis and educational programs to children living in/around Brooklyn public housing.
A huge thank you goes out to our event sponsors and community partners: the Junior Tennis Foundation, Fiera Capital, Wegmans, Fort Greene Tennis Association, and NYC Parks!
Another big thank you goes to all the players who fundraised and our incredible team of staff, volunteers, and students who made the day run smoothly!
We can’t wait to see everyone back at the Fort Greene Park tennis courts for next year’s Doubles Open!
